The Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB)
www.rnib.org.uk
In April 2002, the RNIB introduced far-reaching
Governance changes which mean that the majority of those running the charity
will, under its constitution, be visually impaired. For this reason, the
charity is now known as “The Royal Nat16:21 23/07/2005ional Institute of the Blind”. A
newly-created Board of Trustees oversees the strategic management of the
charity, while a larger assembly will have an advisory role and will elect
the majority of those serving on the Board. ABAPSTAS has three representatives
on the Assembly who will play as active a role as the structures, communications
and systems allow. We will use the bulletin and the web site to report
on important issues raised by RNIB connected with education and employment.
For more information on the RNIB, see Christopher
Crockett's bulletin article
